About Me
I started coding as a kid in France and never really stopped. In 2007, while finishing my degree at EPITECH in Paris, I wrote the first lines of PrestaShop, an open source e-commerce platform. It grew into one of the most widely used e-commerce solutions in the world, powering hundreds of thousands of stores in over sixty languages. Building it taught me how to grow an engineering team, how to run an open source community, and how to take a product global, one language, one currency, and one payment provider at a time. PrestaShop was acquired by MBE Worldwide in 2021.
I moved to the US more than fifteen years ago and settled in San Francisco, CA. In 2020 I teamed up with Sonya Petcavich to build Meowtel, which we grew into the leading cat sitting marketplace in the U.S. People sometimes smile when I tell them I went from e-commerce infrastructure to cat care, but a two-sided marketplace with real-world logistics, trust and safety, and payments is a genuinely hard technical problem. Rover acquired Meowtel in early 2026, and I still run its technology today.
A few things I know well:
- Zero to one, twice. I've taken two products from an empty repository to acquisition. I've written the first commit, hired the first engineer, survived the first outage, and signed the closing papers. The early stage is the part I love most: everything is still possible and every decision counts.
- AI engineering. I've been building with LLMs since well before it was fashionable, and at Meowtel they now run through the whole stack: sitter matching, fraud and trust signals, support triage, review quality. I've built the eval pipelines, retrieval systems, and agent orchestration behind them, and I've restructured how our team ships software around agentic coding tools, with custom MCP servers wired into our internal systems. What interests me is the systems side of AI: not the demo, but the architecture that makes a model reliable, observable, and worth its latency in production.
- Small teams, big surface area. Meowtel is the #1 cat sitting marketplace in the U.S., and it runs on a handful of engineers. Operating at that ratio means ruthless prioritization, deep automation, and an architecture that stays simple on purpose. I think it's the most underrated competitive advantage in software.
- The full stack of running a business. Two decades of being the technical half of a company left me fluent in the disciplines around the code: business intelligence and analytics, cybersecurity, DevOps and infrastructure, payments and fraud, SEO & AEO.
Somewhere along the way I also went through Harvard Business School Online for economics, business analytics, and financial accounting, graduating with Honors. It gave me a real command of the language of the business side, and it changed how I build: technical decisions land better when you can trace them all the way to the P&L.
These days, alongside Meowtel, I advise early-stage startups, mentor young entrepreneurs, and sit on advisory boards. Outside of work I garden, fish, bake, travel, and trade the markets, and I share my home with cats who supervise all of it. The common thread is curiosity: I like taking things apart, whether it's a sourdough starter, an order book, or a new model architecture, until I understand why they work.
